The MPSA invites applications from individuals, pairs, or teams for the Editorship of the American Journal of Political Science (AJPS) for the years 2010 through 2013. Nominations and self-nominations are encouraged. Interested applicants for Editor should be full professors in Political Science doctoral degree-granting programs. Applicants are expected to have records of significant research accomplishment, intellectual breadth and depth, and administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • The United States Naval Academy invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the rank of assistant or associate professor to begin no later than August 2009. This appointment is with the Leadership Ethics and Law (LEL) Department. The purpose of this position is two-fold: 1) to enhance LEL's core educational curriculum and expand the teaching and research expertise of the department in the general areas of culture, gender, interpersonal violence and the intersection of leadership with these issues, with an emphasis on sexual harassment and sexual assault; and, 2) to advise and provide regular curriculum consulting, training and educational program evaluation to the Academy's Sexual Assault Prevention & Response (SAPR) office. There will be a reduced teaching load.

    The successful candidate must have a professional background of at least two years and research interest in interpersonal, social and organizational issues related to diverse populations, with a specific interest in sexual harassment and assault prevention. We are seeking a faculty member who is not only interested in scholarly activities in the areas of sexual harassment and assault prevention, but is interested in enhancing and advancing the Naval Academy's cutting-edge prevention education program in an advisory role. Candidates for this position must have completed the Ph.D. in a relevant field of human and social behavior including, but not limited to, anthropology, education, psychology, public health, social work, and sociology. The incumbent must possess a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, advising, and a desire to actively engage in research and scholarship that expands the field of knowledge or promotes understanding of issues in the aforementioned areas of expertise.   • The United States Naval Academy invites applications for up to two junior-levels, tenure-track position to teach Ethics in the Department of Leadership, Ethics and Law, to begin July 2009. A Ph.D. is required, though applicants with Ph.D. completed by August 2009 are eligible. 3/3 teaching load is expected. AOS: Open. AOC: Ethics. Philosophy of science and logic are also desirable. Successful must be prepared to teach a sophomore level military ethics course, Moral Reasoning for Naval Leaders. The U.S. Naval Academy is a highly selective undergraduate institution that prepares young men and women to be professional officers in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, offering majors in 22 subject areas and class sizes typically ranging from 10 to 22 students. The department of Leadership, Ethics and Law is a diverse department that includes philosophers who combines their commitments to the teaching and study of ethics with scholarly interests in a wide range of fields, including political theory, philosophy of religion, and moral psychology/philosophy of mind.

  • The United States Coast Guard Academy invites applications for an expected tenure-track vacancy in Comparative Politics beginning in the 2009-2010 academic year. The position is located in the Humanities Department, which offers the Government Major, one of eight undergraduate majors at the Academy. Approximately 20% of the Corps of Cadets major in Government. Applicants with regional specialty in South or East Asia, the Pacific Rim, Africa, or Latin America are particularly encouraged to apply. Job Posting: Air Force Culture and Language Center

The Air Force Culture and Language Center invites applications for a faculty position of open rank. We seek a psychologist (industrial/organizational, social, cross-cultural, etc.) or closely related behavioral scientist (organizational behavior, education, etc.) with a mastery of psychometric assessment, interest in professional development and emphasis on culture. The successful candidate will contribute to a dynamic and growing inter-disciplinary center charged with strengthening the ability of all Air Force personnel to exert positive influence in culturally complex environments. This individual will serve as the Air Force authority on the assessment of Airmen's cross-cultural competence.

Initially, the incumbent's primary role will be to adapt/develop and apply psychometric instruments to evaluate the effectiveness of educational and training efforts. The position will also offer other opportunities/funding to conduct/supervise research relating to the assessment of cross-cultural competence. A solid background in research design, quantitative methods and analysis is required. The successful candidate will use his/her findings to assist in curriculum development, provide guest lectures and teach graduate/undergraduate electives across Air University (AU). AU is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Students include US military personnel, members of allied armed forces and civilians. Finally, the incumbent will be responsible for outreach to professional associations, academic institutions and military centers in the US and internationally through academic conferences and other activities.
